KASONSO BUSANGA CAMP

Offering the best wildlife viewing in Kafue National Park

PROLIFIC GAME VIEWING
best guides in the kafue
central busanga location

Situated deep within the Busanga Plains—the jewel of Kafue National Park—Kasonso is not just a lodge; it’s your exclusive entry point to the untamed Zambian bush. Due to our limited capacity of just four intimate tents, we guarantee an unparalleled sense of seclusion, ensuring your safari sightings are personal and uncrowded. When you travel with us, you are witnessing the vast, seasonal wetland transform into a breathtaking savanna that hosts some of the best game viewing in Southern Africa.

3 Reasons to visit Kasonso:

incredible LION ENCOUNTERS

The lions of Busanga are a highlight of the region and the encounters of these cats moving around the floodplains is something to behold.

BIRDING diversity

The water, fig tree islands and floodplains make for superb birding and the Busanga has an incredible birding list to experience.

LECHWE AND OTHERS

The Busanga is also home to extensive lechwe populations and the topography of the land makes for a photographer’s dream!

“Have you dreamed of seeing lions, not in a zoo but on a vast open plain?

If so, you must visit Kasonso in the heart of the Busanga Plains, where you are virtually guaranteed to see majestic male lions, lionesses, and even small cubs. Knowledgeable guides will drive you to within a few meters of these iconic creatures, answer your questions, and explain the finer points of lion behavior.”

– Sonja, July 2025

Our lodge location: Situated in the heart of  the Busanga Plains

Kasonso Busanga Camp is situated in a more central location in the Busanga Plains closer to the action and is more accessible early and for longer in the year. You will have front-row access to immense herds of the endemic Red Lechwe, whose movements define the plains. Crucially, the Busanga is home to a robust population of lions—known for their adapted behavior of hunting in the water—providing thrilling and unique predator encounters unmatched anywhere else.
