Grand Kafue Tour
Day 1-2
Kafue River Lodge
We begin this beautiful safari at Kafue River Lodge. Following your arrival by air or road, you shall arrive at Kafue River Lodge, on the banks of the Kafue River.
On the afternoon of arrival, we recommend you embark on a boat cruise, a lovely introduction to the Kafue.
After the cruise, you will return to camp in the early evening, refresh and relax by the fire until dinner is served on the deck overlooking the river.
The following day, you will have a wake up call around 05.00. At 05.30, you will find fresh tea and coffee prepared down at the boma.
You can enjoy a light continental breakfast there whilst warming by the fire. By around 06.00, you will head out for the morning activity. You will return late morning, in time for brunch.
After brunch, you will have a chance to relax for a few hours before meeting for high tea at 15.30, in time for your afternoon / evening activity to start around 16.00.
This is a fairly typical day when on a safari. Some days, we will do special activities or different programs and these tailored according to your wishes and shall be communicated to you on the ground.
Day 3
Kikuji Camp
After Kafue River Lodge, we will head to Kikuji Camp. On this itinerary, we will use Kikuji as a strategic stop over on route to Kasonso.
The region around Kikuji is spectacular. The area is a paradise for specialist activities such as birding, botany, fishing.
Day 4-6
Kasonso Camp
Kasonso is based in the heart of the Busanga Plains. It is a stunning camp, operated by a well oiled team.
The activities here and at the following destinations will run in very similar timings to the description of the activities at KRL. Due to the distances around the Busanga, it is necessary for the activities here to all be driving based.
Day 7-8
Musekese Camp
Following Kasonso, we will head south to Musekese. The routine here shall be similar to the above. We recommend doing a walking safari each morning, and the afternoon activity should be either a boat cruise or a game drive.
Musekese is in a brilliant region, rich with wildlife. Particularly predator sightings are top here.
Day 9-11
Kaingu Camp
After exploring the region around Musekese for a couple of days, we will head further south to Kaingu. Kaingu is based on the Kafue River. It’s a stunning lodge, very well run offering a beautiful bush experience.
On the afternoon of arrival, we will arrange for you to do the walk to Mpamba rock. The following day, you will take a morning drive in the Park and an afternoon boat cruise.
Day 12-13
Nanzhila Plains Camp
The last region to adventure through is the Southern area. After we leave Kaingu we will transfer through Itezhi tezhi, on route to the Nanzhila Plains.
Nanzhilla is a stunning camp. Game densities are good here, with a marvellous range of mammal species to look for.
The focus on activities is driving. Following a couple nights at Nanzhilla, we will either fly or drive you to Lusaka or Livingstone.
Final Day
Return to Lusaka
Day 1-3
Kafue River Lodge
The beginning combination of the Northern Kafue Safaris properties makes a marvellous start to this safari. The program will be very similar to the beginning of the grand kafue tour. Starting at Kafue River Lodge then working our way to Kikuji Camp for two nights then Kasonso Camp for three nights, before heading to Lusaka to break up the journey to Mfuwe.
Day 4-5
Kikuji Camp
We will use Ciela Hotel, near the Lusaka International airport to break up the journey to Mfuwe. For either transferring by road, or air chartering, this is a good side of town to be on as there is less traffic to contend with in the morning if you are on the east side.
Ciela itself is a new build hotel. It’s very large and the standard is good. There is a selection of restaurants to choose from, all boasting great cuisine.
Day 6-8
Kasonso Camp
Kasonso is based in the heart of the Busanga Plains. It is a stunning camp, operated by a well oiled team.
The activities here and at the following destinations will run in very similar timings to the description of the activities at KRL. Due to the distances around the Busanga, it is necessary for the activities here to all be driving based.

Lusaka
Day 10-12
Flatdogs
Flatdogs Camp offers several unique accommodation options that blend into the beauty and tranquility found on the banks of the Luangwa River. Step into their little piece of paradise and marvel at the natural world again.
Flatdogs is based near the main entrance to the famous South Luangwa National Park, which has over the years become famous as the best park in Africa for leopard sightings.
Final Day
Returm to Lusaka
The North of Zambia has long been overlooked, as a tourism destination. Our package takes you through the heart of the North and offers a marvellous bush experience in the process.
This safari is currently, only on offer using road transfers. If it is of interest to do it with a charter plane, do let us know and we will quote it for you.
Day 1-2
Kafue River Lodge
We will begin at Kafue River Lodge. The first two-nights here will be spent mostly enjoying the river. We feel it’s important to put focus on the rover activities at this stage because there is much driving in this itinerary.
Day 3-5
Kasonso
After a couple nights at Kafue River lodge we will transfer you to Kasonso Camp to explore the region around Busanga on game drives.
After a few days in this area, we will leave from Lusaka and overnight on the North side of the town.
Day 6
Lusaka
Days 9-10
Kasanka
You shall stay at Wasa Lodge for the nights at Kasanka. Wasa is based at the edge of Lake Wasa. Birding in the park is exceptional. You will also have a chance to spot sitatunga from one of the hides, in the early morning.
Days 11-13
North Luangwa with Classic Zambia
Classic Zambia are setting up a camp this year on the banks of the Mwaleshi river. Kutandala camp is well situated, in a region teaming with big game. North Luangwa is famous for its walking safaris.
Most of your activities shall be walking based but you will likely also have the option for game drives in the evenings.
Days 14
Kapishya
Built in 1956 by Gore-Browne’s son in law, John Harvey, the lodge offers six high quality chalets with ensuite facilities, all built from local materials.
They all face the Mansha River and are surrounded by ravishing green gardens with variety of radiant plants and flowers.
Able to accommodate up to six people, chalets are a great option for groups of friends or families looking for a calming and peaceful place for their holiday.

Days 1-3
This safari combines two of Zambia’s best Parks, the Kafue and the Lower Zambezi. We will begin with a charter or a road transfer to Kafue River Lodge.
You will spend three nights here, exploring the vast Lunga Luswishi game management area and the North East region of the Kafue National Park. Activities available range between boating, cycling, walking and driving safaris.
Days 4-8
Kasonso
After Kafue River Lodge, we will transfer you by road to the Busanga Plains, Kasonso Camp. Kasonso is well situated, in the heart of the Busanga Plains.
You will spend three nights on the Plains, exploring and experiencing what this region has to offer.
It boasts the best game concentrations in Zambia, not to be missed. The cuisine is great but the real experience at Kasonso lays with your guides. You will be hosted by local legends, who grew up in this region of the Kafue.
Day 9
Lusaka
For the nights in Lusaka, we use one of the hotels located near the Lusaka International Airport.
Days 10-12
Flatdogs Camp

Return to Lusaka
This itinerary captures two of Zambia’s biggest gems, the mighty Victoria Falls and the Kafue National Park
Days 1-3
We will transfer you by road, or air to Kafue River Lodge. Here, you shall embark on a range of activities, either driving, boating, cycling or walking safaris.
Days 4-6
After a couple days of exploring this region, we will then head up to Busanga Plains. You will have a few nights here, to sink in and hopefully find some of the famous cats of Busanga.
You will certainly be entertained by the abundance of animals here, from a variety of species.
Days 7-8
After a few hearty days on the Plains, we will arrange a charter flight for you, to go to Livingstone. We have booked you here into the luxury rooms at Maramba River Lodge.
Maramba, is well situated near the falls and has recently been refurbished. It’s a great location.
We have included one boat cruise and one visit to the Falls in the cost of your itinerary. You will also have an afternoon to choose another activity, or to relax around the lodge as you wish.
This brief trip, combines two great camps, Kasonso and Kutali. We have put this short experience together as an “add on” to an existing itinerary, or for a short break, the quote is based on air charters.

Enjoy 3 nights at Kasonso Camp, exploring the plains that boast some of the best game concentrations in Zambia.

Kutali
